Math Illustrated is a tool for teachers and tutors alike to generate engaging math workbooks for young students. With just a few clicks, Math Illustrated transforms a drab math worksheet into a cohesive series of story driven word problems, complete with illustrations. The program offers educators an easy way to personalize educational materials for each student. By demonstrating the application of math in an engaging and relatable context, we hope improve comprehension and retention of elementary math.

From any worksheet, we generate our math-driven stories using GPT-4. Since these general-purpose LLMs are notoriously bad at math, we correct GPT-4's calculations using DeepSeek-math-7b-instruct. For each question, we also ask GPT-4 to produce an image-generation prompt that matches the scene in the story. These prompts are handed off to Playground v2, which produces our illustrations.
